researcher Abdullah Huiz. He's going to be talking to us about the recent joint

military incursion into Kurdistan. It's a joint operation

between the Kurdish KDP party of Iraqi Kurdistan and the Turkish military. Basically it's a joint operation

into the areas where the Kurdish militants to PKK are inside Iraqi Kurdistan

which of course the KDP mainly controls. It's a very messy situation.

So last week we saw Turkey launch this operation, this incursion, into Kurdistan, Iraqi Kurdistan, whatever people want to call it. And then it turns out it's kind of a essentially a collaboration with Barzani's KDP party,

also Kurds fighting the PKK who are Kurds. It all looks quite messy. Can you just kind of explain to us what is going on right now?

So Turkey, as you said, I started a new military operation in New Kurdistan and in many ways this is the continuation of last

year's operations in in the Amedie District in Northern Iraq,

Kurdistan.

So basically what's going on is,

so PKA has been operating in these areas

pretty much since 80s. So Turkey has been trying in the last

two years it had they have changed the strategy they have trying to push the war more and more into

Iraqi Kurdistan so that they will basically fight PKK in Kurdistan instead of inside Turkey.

So basically this operation is focused on fuel, very bountaneous very harsh very rigid areas so it's it's as you say it's very messy it's harsh and in some ways

the KDP the Barzanes party is at least indirectly cooperating with

Turkey in fighting PKK. Right and what's their goal here? I mean for 40 years
