0:23.7

but I felt like I couldn't breathe with all of the stuff surrounding me. Over the next 10 months,

0:30.2

I got rid of approximately 70% of our household belongings and I have never looked back.

0:39.9

I kind of feel like I hacked the mom system and I'm here to share all the tips, tricks, and encouragement. Let's listen to today's show.

Hello and welcome to this episode of the Decluttered Mom podcast. Today we are going to be talking a little bit about, I guess, well, clothes in general, but a little bit about like fast fashion and how it has created a major problem in our world. Not only in our closets, just like it's been, it's easier now than ever to buy so many clothes

1:14.1

for even way less money than when you, when you maybe owned less clothing items because of

1:21.1

fast fashion, right? It's just unless you're buying from like a more expensive store,

1:26.6

it's very easy to let your closet get a

1:30.7

little bit out of control and do it season after season. There's no hiding that I am a TikTok

1:39.1

scroll fan. It's one of my favorite pastimes. And I sometimes get into like different algorithms on

1:48.4

TikTok where I am just like dumbfounded at the amount of clothing items that people buy on a seasonal

1:56.9

basis or not even seasonal, just like constant. Like every week, it seems they're buying

2:02.4

like bags and bags and bags or boxes and boxes of new clothing for them and for their kids.

2:09.9

And a big reason for that is fast fashion, right? It's like it's just very affordable to be able to do it.

2:17.7

So today we're just going to talk a little bit about like the hidden environmental

2:21.5

impact of clothing, a clutter.

2:24.3

And what you can do if you're feeling like, oh, shoot, I am one of those people who has a closet

2:30.8

full of clothes.

2:32.9

And one of the reasons I can't get rid of them is like I just feel bad.

2:36.8

Like they're going to end up in a landfill. Even if I donate them, like I just like I just

2:41.9

have this bad feeling environmentally what's going to happen to all these clothes and like my

2:47.1

contribution. Right. So just a couple like things about fast fashion to begin with.
