Killer Tape. Season 1. David Berkowitz. AKA Son of Sam. I hope you die. I hope you die. He confessed to being

the 44 killer ordered by a voice speaking to a neighbor's dog. Carry out his bloody outrageous

against young pretty women. I stuck up on him and shot him. Berkowitz planned to use the revolver

again and again until he felt police were getting close. I wanted to help people. I wanted to

force somebody to step. David Berkowitz, 24 years old, found himself surrounded by police.

Well, he said, you got him. And now the neat story. It's not for anybody else from myself.

At least say those words ended the biggest manhunt in New York City history.

At approximately 8.30 pm on the evening of April 16, 1977, David Berkowitz again grabbed the

charter arms bulldog 44 and left the apartment driving south towards Queens. This time, not long

after leaving, he was pulled over in a routine traffic stop by officers of the 45th precinct.

When asked for his credentials, Berkowitz could provide none, no registration, no proof of

insurance. So officer Jose Panero issued a summons, and David Berkowitz was instructed to appear
