As a mental health professional and someone into the paranormal, I personally find the

I remember the short but strange story from my childhood that I often wonder about.

Weed a lovely neighbour, Charlotte, who had once been an opera singer but was retired and

was often bedridden with a heart condition related to childhood rheumatic fever.

I often visited her as a child and we would take tea together.

I heard her husband and my parents speaking one day about the letters Charlotte received

from her deceased mother.

Apparently Charlotte would have a warm feeling come over her and if she had a pen in her hand

she would begin writing in her mother's handwriting, a letter from her mother describing

how beautiful heaven was, with wonderful flowers and wonderful books to read.

As an avid reader I really loved that part.

I also remember feeling frightened about the story, especially the idea of losing control

of one's hand.

My parents told me it was psychological and a way for Charlotte to deal with her grief

over losing her mother.

Charlotte died when I was 14.

I think she was in her early 50s so very young.
