| 0:09.0 | So I was teaching class a couple days ago, and I was talking with my students. |
| 0:16.9 | And a couple times the students would say a word that was a sort of pet peeve of mine. |

| 0:31.6 | You know, she was like, oh, well, so-and-so committed suicide. |

| 1:02.4 | meetings are three hours long, so there's a lot of opportunities for things like this to happen. |
| 1:06.0 | But later in the class meeting, another student said the word codependent. They were saying, |
| 1:10.6 | oh, the so-and-so is very codependent. |
| 1:13.2 | And I, you know, responded to what they were saying. |
| 1:18.1 | And then I said, and by the way, codependent is kind of a hack word because of blah, blah, blah, and I explained why. |
| 1:26.5 | And then I said, and while we're on the topic, I should also say that the phrase |
| 1:31.3 | commit suicide is also not the preferred nomenclature. |
| 1:35.5 | Now we say killing yourself or completed suicide because committed suicide implies a sin |
| 1:41.6 | or a crime and that doesn't seem like the way we want to talk about suicide. |
| 1:47.5 | And then I, you know, start moving on with class and then someone raised their hand and they said, |
| 1:52.9 | so is it a hack thing to say if you say red flag? You know, that's, that raises some red flags. |
