Welcome to episode 149 of the Marvel Studios news Podcast. My name is Sean Gerber, flying solo for an extra

episode this week. Paul and I are scheduled to record again

on Monday night as I'm recording this episode now. It's Friday morning

but Paul and I are going to be starting our expanding the universe podcast series on

Monday with an episode profiling Black Widow and we will be talking about

or we will be including the

exclusive look that's going to air during the college football playoff national

championship game but there's another story that broke yesterday, that was just too big for me to wait on.

So I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna address it now

in a bonus episode of the podcast this week.

So as you probably already know, Scott Derrickson is no longer

directing Dr Strange in the multiverse of Madness, which leaves us in the

multiverse of Sadness as we wonder what went wrong, how did this happen, and I think the best way to try and

uncover what went wrong, we'll never know exactly what went wrong is we got to break

it all down and go through the timeline with this film and Scott Derrickson's involvement in it.

But before I get into all of that, let's just go ahead and take the news that we have today

or that we had as of yesterday.

Scott Derrickson is out of the director's chair. He confirmed that

Marvel confirmed that yesterday and then per variety there is no expected delay to

the film so even though Marvel needs to find a new director, there is, as of right now, no delay expected

for Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

It is still scheduled to start production in May of this year for a May 7th, 2021 theatrical release.
