Today the topic is Rooting Out Sin.

Have you ever noticed that you're confessing some of the same sins or the same family of

sins over and over?

It's as though you have a little sin variety that keeps springing up like some native

weed in your garden.

For example, perhaps you have confessed envy occasionally over the years, often on, then

you hear a sermon on envy and realize you've let this particular sin fester unnoticed.

Not only have you let some of the old envy grow up in your heart, but you realize as you

confess your sin that there are new colonies of envy that have been taking root that you

hadn't noticed.

Or let's be honest, you didn't want to notice.

And that's what feeds the sin.

But once you face it squarely, you should not be discouraged by this.

Rather, you should be encouraged.

This is your sanctification.

We are perfect in Christ.

That is our justification.

But our sanctification is an ongoing process.

So be encouraged when God shows you where you must do some spiritual weeding.
