Hi, welcome to classical stuff you should know a podcast about classical education, the classical world, old books, old things, and the schools that are trying to do it.

Are we going to start doing like a profile of different schools?

Oh, we could.

That would be kind of fun.

But no, there is a movement called classical education that is in, well, the U.S.,

it's in the Western world.

And actually, there's a classical school in China, which I find fascinating because

they're doing classical education,

but they're also weaving in like classical pre-communist Chinese history.

Sure.

I mean, they have the Eastern canon.

They're not as much a part of the Western canon.

But with the same sort of pedagogical ideas about conversation and emphasis on language and roundtable discussions and that kind of stuff.

That's great.

I love that.

Anyway, there are classical schools all over the world, right?

And there's really good discussions about classical education in sub-Saharan Africa.

So like Andrew Kern's daughter lived in Africa and worked at a classical school, I think in Kenya or Nigeria.

And she has some really great insights on their podcast talking about reading Homer with, in the sort of the African culture.

It's really cool.
