| 0:29.8 | won't budge or the tape measure or whatever it is you're using to measure your progress. |
| 0:35.4 | No matter where you are in the process, hitting a stubborn weight loss plateau is frustrating, |
| 0:41.3 | but don't let it erode your resolve. Today I have three ways for you to break through a |
| 0:46.4 | weight loss plateau. In order to lose weight, of course, you need to cut back on your food intake. |
| 0:52.4 | And if you do that for long |
| 0:53.8 | enough your body may play a nasty trick on you it may start conserving energy |
| 0:59.6 | by lowering your metabolic rate and as a result you won't burn as many calories |
| 1:04.4 | and your weight loss slows or stops altogether. |
| 1:08.0 | Although this feels like the worst kind of sabotage |
| 1:11.3 | your body is actually trying to look out for you. |
| 1:15.2 | Your lizard brain has noticed that food supplies seem to have been scarce for an extended period |
| 1:20.5 | of time, and so it's trying to increase your chances of survival in case the famine continues. |
| 1:26.3 | Of course, when you're trying to lose weight, this is not very helpful. |
| 1:31.0 | You're really stuck between a rock and a hard place. You could try eating even less in order to nudge off more weight, but that just confirms your lizard brain's suspicions about the dwindling food supply. |
| 1:42.0 | Or you could eat more in an effort to restore a more robust metabolic rate, |
| 1:47.0 | but that's hardly going to help with weight loss. |
