0:00.0 | Have you tried to shop for seeds lately? |
0:03.0 | If so, then you know that the seed supply shortage that we saw earlier this year hasn't gone away. |
0:10.0 | And while, of course, I can't predict what's going to happen with the seed supply six months down the line, |
0:16.0 | I can tell you that personally, I'm getting more serious about seed saving. I have been seed saving |
0:22.9 | myself since my very first year, so I can tell you it's completely doable. And some crops are |
0:28.6 | really, really easy. They're a no-brainer. Not to mention the satisfaction that you get when |
0:35.2 | you're saving your own seeds and next year you have a crop full of |
0:39.2 | vegetables from seeds that you save from the year before? I consider that free food. Even if you're a |
0:45.8 | first time gardener. Actually, I'd say especially if you're a first time gardener. Saving your own |
0:51.6 | seeds is something that I recommend you already get into the habit of doing. |
0:55.7 | You'll be so glad you did and you'll be so grateful for it next year. But how do you even get |
1:01.7 | started? To talk about this subject, I wanted to ask someone who knows how to save seeds, |
1:07.8 | who could teach me some things that I didn't know. And did he? Today I'm going to be |
1:13.3 | sharing with you my conversation with Philip Couth of the Seed Sabers Exchange. You may have |
1:19.3 | actually bought seeds from this company before. I know I have. And I was so grateful to hear |
1:24.8 | Phil's tips on how to save seeds from the vegetables that I am |
1:29.3 | already growing in my garden now. At the end of this episode, after you've listened to this |
1:34.6 | conversation between Phil and myself, you will be well on your way to having the knowledge you |
1:40.3 | need to save your own seeds this year. And you will be so glad you did. Hi, I'm Jill and in |
1:47.8 | 2013 I started my first garden having no background, knowledge, or experience whatsoever. Now I am |
1:54.4 | embarking on my eighth season of growing my own vegetables, fruits, and herbs and I'm proof that you |
1:59.6 | don't have to have decades of experience to grow your own garden, bigger, and herbs, and I'm proof that you don't have to have decades of experience |
