family. Well we are coming into the second part of our story about Israel's first king. You

will recall from last week that this is during the the very very very very end of the time of the

judges and this was a unique season in Israel's history because Israel didn't have a king they

didn't have a monarchy they had a theocracy meaning that God was in charge of what was happening in

Israel. Now he did use men and women to lead and to make decisions and what would happen is Israel

would be disobedient God would allow for oppressors to come in and cause trouble for the Jewish

people they would cry out they'd repent of their sinful ways God would hear their cries for help

and he would send them a judge this man or woman would lead they would make decisions they would

be a representative they would be an instrument of God's hand by which he would help the people.

Today's events the choosing of a king will this marks the the end of the season of the judges.

Why? Well Israel has asked for a king and God's going to choose someone. Now remember that we

were seeking to advance their financial status and they were doing that through super corrupt
