Hello and welcome to Bible Stories.

I am your host Matt with me is our good, good friend Todd.

And today we are going to be looking at a story from the book of Judges.

We're going to examine the beginning of the story of Saul, the very first king of Israel.

But before we get to Saul's story, we have to take a look at what led the people of Israel to demand a king.

So here's what would happen in this time of the Judges.

The people would disobey.

They get into a pattern of sinfulness in their lives.

God would judge that sinfulness by allowing some conquerors to come in and subjugate the people.

They'd rule over them with the heavy hand.

The people would cry out.

They'd repent. They'd ask for help.

God would send a judge to come and rescue them.

And then the people would do the same old thing they used to do.

They'd fall back into sin.

God would send someone to come in and conquer them.

People would cry out.

It was just again and again and again.
