Summary

In this deeply personal episode, I sit down with my mom to talk about what it was like raising my sister and me as a single, divorced mom working full-time.

She opens up about navigating co-parenting with different rules, parenting through heartbreak, and showing up for her kids even when she felt completely broken. We talk about how divorce impacted her faith, how she kept shame from consuming her, and how the people in her life helped her survive one of the hardest seasons.

My mom also shares what she wishes other single moms knew, and how she handled introducing someone new into our lives. It’s emotional, honest, and filled with wisdom for any woman walking through divorce, single motherhood, or simply trying to hold it together when everything feels like it’s falling apart. Plus, we laugh about the messy, real-life moments—like me locking myself out of the house and calling her at work to save me (again).

If you’re a single parent who’s ever wondered, “Can I really do this?”—this one’s for you.

all of the things that are involved with divorce and walking through that.

0:46.5

And so my mom has been just an amazing example of a godly woman who has handled things

0:53.3

with so much grace. And as I feel like as I've grown

0:57.3

into an adult, I feel like I can see more mom of like what you've done. And I just have a lot

1:05.3

more clarity of the strength that it took to do the things that you did. It's fascinating.

1:10.2

Because as a child,

1:11.0

you just kind of, you're going with the flow. You're doing the thing. We were switching houses

1:14.6

like every six days usually. My dad was a pilot. My mom worked full time. And so we did what we

1:21.7

needed to. But now as I see how much Jesse helps me with everything, because he is such a servant. I see his hand and

1:30.1

everything and realize like, oh my gosh, this, I have such a great respect for single moms who do it

themselves. So I just wanted to start by asking you questions. So my mom's name is Rose. And say,
