0:29.7	you're a New Yorker, I'm a New Yorker. How did you get from New York to Miami? It's the metaphor
0:35.5	from going from my head down to my body. that's for sure. I, I guess,
0:41.0	one of the most relevant aspects of my, you know, long and expensive debt accruing journey into
0:49.7	the medical field is that my mom is Italian, so I'm second generation, and anyone who's second
0:56.5	generation knows that there's a lot of pressure on your academic performance, and you basically
1:00.7	can be a doctor or a lawyer, but you better make it worth it, that they left the motherland.
1:05.5	So I had a lot of pressure on me to perform, and so I was one of these, and this is so common now
1:14.7	for women in my generation, I was one of these women who was appreciated and valued for my
1:21.0	capacity to achieve and produce and succeed. And the notion that I could be loved and valued for just my beingness.
1:32.0	For you.
1:32.7	Totally anathema to me.
1:34.5	I am still trying to understand that and live that.
1:40.2	So I was really conditioned around that, you know, 4.0.
1:43.7	I went to MIT. I went to Cornell for, you know, my training and NYU for my residency. I got a fellowship. And I worked a suicide hotline when I was in college. So I was at MIT, as I mentioned. And there is, I don't know if it's still the case.
2:01.7	I imagine it is a high rate of completed suicides at MIT.
