The Doctrine and Covenants is saying, get out there, read good stuff, learn as much as you can,

and be an inquisitive, thoughtful person because that will make you better able to carry out the purposes of God.

As the gospel is taken to all nations, those nations then bring their unique gifts, talents, goodness, beauty and truth together into Zion.

We have an obligation to seek out stuff that will benefit us.

And a lot of these come from people that are members of other churches,

that come from different cultures than ours, that might have a radically different background

from us. With the Spirit as our guide, we can embrace these things as we seek to make the world a better place,

but we should also be wise.

Use the spirit to discern what's actually going to be helpful to you and what might be not so

helpful.

I love that these verses affirm that the gospel of Jesus Christ transcends national and cultural

boundaries.

You can almost print that out and put it on your wall.
