the cartels in Mexico and Central and South America are, you know better than anybody, one of the most misunderstood topics.

And being a journalist in Mexico covering the cartels has got to be one of the most dangerous

jobs on earth.

Definitely, man.

What the hell is going on in Mexico?

Well, man, in Mexico, it's always something going on and it's been crazy for some years now.

But I think it's just in recent years, maybe the last, I guess the last decade, things are really going off rails.

Cartels are overpassing the power of even politicians or, you know, like the government.

And they've been receiving so much support by the U.S., you know, like a lot of U.S. trained police officers or Mexican military are going to work with the cartel.

So you can sort of like guess what's uh what's that like you know like

those guys are properly equipped properly trained hard to fight on and they and in Mexico as you

know there's a lot of well and I think all Latin America corruption is ramping you know it's it's

crazy the levels of corruption what made you want to

like get into this world and cover all the stuff and document these things going on and embed

yourself with these cartels like what made you want to do i mean it's a fucking dangerous thing

to do like what was it that got you into it it is man i mean i think I think what got me in was the fact that I grew up in Ciuduarez.

I was born and raised in Ciuduad Juarez in this border city just across El Paso, Texas.

And back then, I grew up in the 90s.

And in the 90s, everybody was talking about Narcos you know like about um amado carillo
