Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories podcast. I'm your host John Delin. It is May 6th

2021 and today I am super excited for an interview that I've wanted to do for quite some time. Today

We are interviewing Luna Lindsay Corbden and we are going to be discussing in depth a really important book. This book was

referred to me by numerous people including Anthony Miller and my good friend Randy Bell. I think even Natasha

for mentioned at one point or another the book is called recovering agency lifting the veil of

Mormon mind control and I think it's an important book for all sorts of reasons just to talk a little bit about

Luna and then we're going to go into their book and to Luna's background stories. Well, this is going to be a

multi-part series on Mormon Stories podcast and the people that have reached out to me about Luna have told me that they are an

incredible writer. They edit a lot of books for other people that this book is really important. But what's most interesting about this book in

particular is that Luna has basically learned a bunch about social psychology and has applied the principles of social

psychology as they relate to undue influence or coercion. You could even say mind control or the types of

behaviors often employed by high-demand religions or cults. Luna has applied these principles to

high-demand religions and the Mormon Church and and so that's what the book is about. This book explores 31 different

techniques used by high-demand religions and the Mormon Church to exert let's just say undue control or influence on its members.

And so the reason why Luna has done this is because when you've been raised in a high-demand religion,

sometimes it becomes really hard to unpack everything you've learned and to tease out or separate what's dogma or doctrine or theology

from basically who you know who am I or who are you. That's a process that that people need to go through and

if you're not thoughtful and careful about doing that, it can take a lot longer to unpack and process and kind of liberate yourself from

ideologies or teachings that might be holding you back in your life. And

Mormonist or his podcast wants to help people

heal and grow from their

relationship with orthodox Mormonism. So this is going to be an epic five-part series.
