I remember the show that I went to actually that sort of said everything.

It just got really rowdy but in a really intimate way.

And I just, I saw the band and I was like, oh my gosh, I want to do this for people.

You know, I want to give this sort of like feeling to people who are suffering with broken hearts.

You're hearing the gold chair ate the fireman by Le Butcherettes, featuring my guest, Leah Simone Braswell on drums.

Raised in Los Angeles by an artistic family, Leah was encouraged to get behind the drum kit at an early age.

In 2011, she joined the influential Mexican art punk band La Butcherettes

for a brief but creatively productive tenure.

She has since worked with Gothic Tropic, Trust,

and has released solo material under the moniker Lalonde.

Now a resident of New York, Leah holds the drum chair for acclaimed noise band, a place to bury strangers.

I spoke to Leah in Los Angeles, prior to the band's recent performance at the Brode Museum.

And now my conversation with Leah Simone Braswell.

My mom is a musician, so she plays piano, she sings, and she plays guitar as well, also harmonica.

She used to go to my school when I was younger at my elementary school and teach all the kids how to play music.

Oh, cool. Yeah.

She did that along with doing that in different kinds of like VAs and small institutions

out here with another band called Saturday Night Bath.
