On the Pilot TV Podcast this week, we're returning to the 90s with last year's reimagining

of seminal family drama Party of 5 on E4, celebrating Pride Month with a six-part documentary

of the same name on Disney Plus and taking the bittersweet pill that is the latest and yet

also final season of the incomparable televisual masterpiece that is the one, the only, Bosch.

I'm James Dyer, and welcome to the Pilot TV Podcast, a show that has turned out in full

dress uniform today to mark the passing of television's greatest living detective, the man,

the myth, the legend, homicide detective, heironomous Harry Bosch.

And if for some reason you're not O-Fay with the Bishbash Bosch of it all, Harry is, you

might be interested to know the son of a Hollywood prostitute who was murdered in the

1960s and Mickey Hala Senior, father of the Lincoln Lawyer of the same name, who was a prominent

defense attorney at the same time, young Harry grew up in state care before joining the

Army at 17 and heading to Vietnam where he became a tunnel rat for the first infantry

division.

After his tour, he joined the LAPD where he became a thorn in the sign of every paper pushing

bureaucrat in the city, while racking up an impressive arrest record.

More notable than any of that though, there was a TV miniseries based around one of Bosch's

cases, and it is the royalties from that that have paid for his ridiculously lavish glass

home on stilts in the Hollywood Hills and his extensive collection of classic jazz vinyl

in case you were wondering how he afford to live, essentially like a rock star on a

cop's salary.
