1:05.4	Today, The Devil's Brigade, the World War II Story

1:11.1	the predecessor of the U.S. Special Service Forces.
1:15.1	The following is the true story of an elite American Canadian commando unit in World War II
1:19.7	which operated under the command of the Fifth Army. They were known and feared by the German forces in Italy who nicknamed them the Black Devils due to the use of a blackening agent they applied to their faces for stealth during combat. They were trained as a small elite force which could go behind
1:37.1	enemy lines, especially in mountainous areas during the worst of winter conditions. This required
1:42.3	a certain breed of men as well as specialized
1:44.6	training in every category you can imagine, from explosives to skiing to mountain
1:49.3	climbing to hand-to-hand combat. Their wartime exploits are the stuff of legend. The first Special Service Force, known
1:56.6	commonly as the FSSF, was awarded the Unit Gold Medal by Congress in 2013 in recognition of their incredible bravery and sacrifice.
2:06.0	When the Special Forces tab was created in 1983 for whereby members of the U.S. Army Special Forces,
2:12.0	it was also retroactively awarded to members of wartime U.S. Army Special Forces, it was also retroactively awarded to members of wartime combat
2:15.3	units that had been identified as predecessors of the Special Forces.
2:19.6	Thus, any soldier who had spent 120 days in wartime service with the first special service force is authorized to wear the special forces tab.
2:28.0	The FSSF, or first special service force, paved the way for today's Special Operations Unit,
2:34.5	such as the U.S Special Forces, the Green Berets, Delta Force, the Navy SEALs, and others.
