Summary

We all know someone who constantly puts stuff off. Who loves to plan improvements for their health, their finances, their work, their friendships, their relationships. Plan after plan after plan. There is seemingly no end to them.

We know these people because we are these people.

Every one of us wants to improve, wants to be better, have better habits, live better, think better. But we can’t seem to actually do it. Time passes, the plans don’t come to pass, and then, as The Talking Heads famously sung, there we are same as it ever was.

Our problem is that what we really want isn’t improvement, it’s reinvention. It’s wholesale change. That’s why this coming moment, January 1st, is so powerfully important. It’s 2019. It’s a new year. And it’s an opportunity for a new you...if you want it.

To that end, the great Stoic, Epictetus, has the perfect question for us: "How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?"

What is it going to take for you to get impatient with yourself? To get started living the life you want in the mind and body you deserve. Not preparing to live it. Not planning how that life could or should look. Actually living it. Right now. This year.

Stop waiting for ‘next year,’ take control now.

We created the 14-Day Stoic Challenge to do just that — to help you create a better life, and a new you in 2019.

The 14-Day Stoic Challenge is a set of 14 actionable challenges, presented one per day, built around the best, most timeless wisdom in Stoic philosophy. 14 challenges designed to set up potentially life-changing habits for 2019 to make it your best year yet.

Some people are going to hire a personal trainer in January. You have the chance to get step-by-step instruction and encouragement from Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus.

In this challenge, each day you’ll be inspired to create a habit that will help you:

✓ Stop Procrastinating
✓ Learn New Skills
✓ Abandon Harmful Habits
✓ Be More Generous
✓ Develop Immunity To Distractions
✓ Strengthen Your Character
✓ Become the Best Version of Yourself....

These won’t be pie-in-the-sky, theoretical discussions but clear, immediate exercises and methods you can begin right now to spark the reinvention you’ve been looking for but have not had the language to express.

We’ll tell you what to do, how to do it, and why it works. We’ll give you strategies for maintaining this way of living not just for this coming year, but for your whole life.

What is getting rid of one bad habit worth? What would you give to add a new positive way of thinking or acting into your daily routine? What would you give to be a positive person? And how great would it be to become a part of a community—part of a tribe—of people just like you, struggling and growing and making that satisfying progress towards the kind of personal reinvention that produces the kind of human beings they never knew they could one day be?

Well, here’s your chance.

0:56.3

We know we want to be better with money or with our work or with friendships or want to have better habits and we plan for these things but then we don't actually do them.

1:06.3

And I love this question from Epic Titus, you know, he said, how long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?

1:13.3

I think we should really think how long are you going to wait until you demand the best of yourself?

1:19.3

And so the idea with 2019 starting here is how do we start the year off right? How can we actually do those things we said we wanted to do? How do we take advantage of them right now?

1:32.3

So we built this thing we're calling it the 14 day stoic challenge, it's one challenge every day for 14 consecutive days.

1:38.3

And they're going to be really awesome stuff. It's going to teach you how to stop procrastinating. They're going to encourage you to learn new skills to abandon harmful habits.

1:48.3

We're going to have one on learning how to be more generous, how to be less distracted, how to strengthen your character, really how to become just the best possible version of yourself.

2:08.3

It's not going to be pie in the sky theoretical nonsense. It's going to be based on stoicism. So there's going to be immediate clear exercises you can start right now.

2:16.3

And it's all going to be based on stoic philosophy. So there's going to be a lot of reading. There's going to be assignments we're going to give you. There's going to be things that you're going to learn about stoicism that are going to stay with you, I think, for the rest of your life.

2:36.3

The entire daily stoke team did it and you saw these great photos. There was a slack channel where people were posting. We even did what we used this app called spa and all the people who made it all the way through, ended up winning the entry fee for the challenge back, which was really cool.

2:52.3

And look, it's not free. It's going to cost 25 bucks. But the idea is that getting rid of one bad habit is worth well more than that. Adding a new way of thinking or being into your life, improving your routine, becoming a better part of a community, part of a tribe, learning from people who are just like you who are struggling and growing, trying to make progress.

3:13.3

This is all worth a lot. And we've put a ton of work into this. You're going to be overwhelmed with what we send you. There's videos for me. There's a podcast episodes, sort of a meditation on the day's meditation for me every day.

3:27.3
