inside our homes, our sanctuaries, where we generally fill our safest.

But of course, not all botched burglaries are what they seem.

Sometimes a murder scene is staged to look like a burglary to conceal the true nature of

a crime, and that may be an element in today's story.

A murder in New Hampshire town that became a media sensation and actually inspired the

1992 novel to die for, and the 1995 film adaption starring Nicole Kidman.

That story drew heavily from the case we're covering on today's episode.

And the real story is every bit of shocking and perverse as the one to die for, for those
