Summary

Toughness itself is not a talent you're born with. It is a state that can be developed, allowing you to leverage your talent and skills, and maximize your knowledge. In this episode Dave explores toughness: where it comes from, how it shows up, and most importantly, how your toughness - specifically mental toughness - impacts team members and those around you positively or negatively.

Welcome to the Game Change Your Life. I'm Dave Anderson. In this episode, I want to talk about

0:32.1

bring toughness to the table. Bring toughness to the table. You know, toughness is not technically, by definition,

0:42.4

a talent, because a talent refers to an ability, and toughness is really a state that leverages your

0:48.6

ability. But my goodness, while it may not technically be a talent, it can sure feel like one,

0:53.8

it can sure leverage your one, it can sure leverage

0:54.6

your talent, leverage your skills, maximize your knowledge and experience. And what I also want to

1:00.6

talk about in this episode is how your personal toughness, speaking specifically of mentally,

1:06.8

okay, can just impact team members in such a positive way, or your lack of it can diminish them

1:14.7

in a meaningful way. This is why I'm talking about bringing toughness to the table. The toughness is a

1:21.0

force multiplier as it leverages your own talents and knowledge and skills and that of your teammates, those you

1:29.0

work most closely with.

1:42.7

by easily being offended. Not only does it divide your

1:47.2

own focus and strengths and talents and make them far less effective, but it also does the same to

1:52.4

the team. So there is a lot at stake for you and me to become more mentally tough and to bring

1:57.5

that toughness to the table day in and day out with whatever we do. It doesn't matter

2:01.8

if you play athletics. It doesn't matter if you're in the workplace. Toughness either shows up or

2:06.6

softness shows up. And we can't be one of those people where toughness only shows up every once in a while

2:12.0

when we really want it when our backs against the wall when time is running out. We've got to be
