We're now a week into the third year of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and thankfully the news is a little rosier for Kiev.

First came the announcement on Monday that Sweden will become the 32nd member of NATO

after Hungary had dropped its objections.

And this will effectively turn the Baltic into a NATO lake

and might lead to the supply of modern gripe and fighter planes to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, at an important gathering of 20 world leaders in Paris in

support of Kiev, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, refused to rule out Western troops

being deployed to fight in Ukraine. We will do everything needed, he said, so Russia cannot win the war.
