Hello and welcome to mini episode 138 of Real Life Gold Stories.

I am here at the home of the new Foundland Canada.

The house was built around 1865 and is full of old treasures.

It was an old yellow two story sold box type home facing the ocean.

Apparently it is one of the oldest houses in Trinity Bay.

The house was built by my great great grandfather and passed down through the generations.

They were merchants who owned fishing scooners and supplied the neighboring communities

with everything needed for a life in outpourged new Foundland, food, material tools, etc.

After the death of my great grandfather at the age of 36, my great grandmother Elizabeth

moved her only son Elmo, my grandfather to the house and restarted the store, located

on the main road of the small community.

She never remarried and remained in the same house for the duration of her life, alone

after my grandfather moved away.

She was a heavy smoker and often smoked in the house, reading novels as a pastime.

My grandfather became a schoolteacher, along with my grandmother and they raised their

family outside of Chammney's East, but they always returned for summer and Christmas

visits and my father has many fond memories of the old house.

I was born in 1984 and I was 4 years old when my great grandmother passed away.

The house sat empty for many years but was used as a summer home by my family.

I too enjoyed many summer visits there.

As a boy I was often afraid to sleep in the bedroom at the top of the stairs.

There were four bedrooms in the top of the house, three were sleeping quarters and one
