| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. I don't know if you'll agree with this or not, |
| 0:16.0 | but I think as human beings in the modern age, we have a tendency to really want to feel good and feel good all the time. We go to school, we get our first |
| 0:26.2 | job, we start making money, and we want things to go well. We kind of expect things to go well, and if they don't, we're not very happy. |
| 0:35.0 | And when it comes to physiological sensations, I think we can go quite extreme. |
| 0:40.0 | Let's use an example. Let's think about sleeping. I don't know about you, but I've known a lot of people when they miss that good night of sleep. They're pretty upset. They're pretty distraught. |

| 1:37.5 | and they're not going to like it and they're going to do things to create suffering |
| 1:41.0 | because of that back pain, not internal suffering from the back pain, but |
| 1:45.4 | mental suffering about being in pain. |
| 1:49.0 | I mean in life, we're going to have times where we experience physiological pain and it hurts. |
| 1:56.0 | But the big difference today is that we want to explore is how do we deal with that suffering, |
| 2:01.1 | that pain, and isn't necessarily something that we have to suffer from. |
| 2:06.2 | This is something we've all probably seen at some point in our lives. |
