Summary
Hello! Thousands of rough sleepers have been given a place to stay during the lockdown. If we can do it in a pandemic, why not the rest of the time? We talk to Matt Downie from Crisis and Maggie Brunjes from Homeless Network Scotland about how we can build on the last few weeks to end rough sleeping for good. Then Danny Dorling discusses what this shows about our ability to tackle injustice and why he thinks the world was slowing down even before the current crisis.

| 0:00.0 | This episode is brought to you by Tautas, the slow newsroom. I am such a fan. I was saying a |
| 0:06.0 | while ago that I do worry that the news has become too much like a Netflix drama. Like stories are |
| 0:13.2 | treated like plot lines that have to include twists and cliffhangers over the course of a week or so |
| 0:18.3 | and then there's a dramatic season finale and you move on to the next one. And Tautas is the |
| 0:24.2 | antithesis of that and I love it. It's so much wiser and more considered and you can feel that |
| 0:30.0 | approach baked into all their investigations and campaigns and commentary. And as a Tautas member |
| 0:35.4 | you get more daily news letter, early and ad free podcasts like the Slow Newscast, London grad, |
| 0:41.7 | which is excellent. Definitely recommend that if you enjoyed our recent episode on Clepter Crats |
| 0:46.4 | and Dirty Money. And you'll also get tickets to their exclusive events. I'm just looking at who |
| 0:51.8 | they've had on and they've had some big names, Catlin Moran, I way way. Oh they must have had |
| 0:58.3 | a last minute dropout. I can see Ed Miliband's name on there. Listen, Tautas is such a great endeavour |
| 1:04.0 | and it just feels good to support this type of journalism, this approach and they have put together |
| 1:09.8 | an offer for you. 60 pounds for the whole year. That's for you as a listener to our podcast. I've |
| 1:15.2 | got a special link for you. So slow down. Wise up with Tautas membership for just 60 pounds a year. |
| 1:21.6 | Go to Tautasmedia.com forward slash cheerful for this exclusive offer. |
| 1:35.4 | This says reasons to be cheerful with Ed Miliband and Jeff Lloyd. Hello. Hello. How is |
| 1:42.4 | how's chutney your imaginary dog? Well you know it's funny you should say this because I did a |
| 1:46.2 | Yorkshire business forum Zoom call with lots of businesses in in Yorkshire a couple of days |
| 1:51.3 | ago and the very nice hosts asked me about chutney. The news of chutney is spreading. |
| 1:58.0 | I thought you were going to tell us that chutney interrupted the Zoom call. You know you keep |
| 2:03.0 | this footage of people with their pets coming in with that. That's true. Well that was a great |
| 2:09.0 | one actually the other day of a weather man in somewhere in America. Sorry. His dog completely |
