Summary

Denmark consistently ranks in the top three countries in regards to happiness and fulfillment among its residents. Danielle speaks to distinguished writer and psychoanalyst Iben Sandahl about what they're doing differently from other countries, and what we can learn and implement into our own daily parenting in an attempt to achieve some of this same positivity. In this informative episode, they talk about everything from the importance of "free play," the danish family practice of "hygge" (togetherness), the beauty of boredom, and the balance between being honest and real with our children while still maintaining a sense of calm and safety when communicating with our children in the face of the pandemic. Obviously these methods aren't something most of us can realistically emulate in their entirety overnight. However, we can sprinkle many of the practices and values into our own behaviors within our households and hopefully reap some of the extraordinary benefits that come with their philosophies.
