Unfortunately, they couldn't make it today, but good news for you, listeners, is I'm joined by a fantastic guest today. We're going to have a fantastic conversation that's going to really bless you. So, guys, will you welcome Dr. Esau McCulley. Issa, how are you today? I'm doing well, and I want you to tell Cassie and Kelsey, they used to feel guilty.

I wish I could have to hang out with all three of you guys, but you have to do. Well, they should, I mean, honestly, they do feel guilty. They wish they were here. Chelsea's off delivering babies at the hospital. Cassie's having a true Sabbath day, but I don't understand why Sabbath can't involve things like talking to Dr. Macaulay. I mean, I feel like delivering babies and

delivering babies and Sabbaths are like the best excuses I've ever heard of. That's a good Jesus, too. There we go. I've been officially Jesus juked and I'm grabbing air and I'm falling into the ground. There we go. That's good. Well, I'm so glad to have you with us today.

Esau, for anybody who's not familiar maybe with you, your ministry, could you tell us a little bit about you? Tell us about your family and tell us what the Lord's got you doing lately. Yeah, I'm a professor of New Testament at Wheaton College. I teach mostly in the Divinity School. I also pastor

And I am married

And I have four

children. I feel like I'm getting old because I have a senior, a sophomore, a sixth grader, and a fourth grader. So I always tell people, you feel like you should get a reward when a kid graduates from high school. But I have a kid in elementary school. so I feel like I'll be parenting forever. So there's the four kids ranging from fourth grade all the way up to seniors in high school. Well, I love it, man. That means more wisdom to offer guys like me. My oldest is about to be 14 heading in, you know, the high school years. I'm going to need that. But I think the reward, you know, in our culture, people would say the reward is that your

kids leave your home.

But unfortunately, you're men like us. We love our kids. I'm still left. I'm like one graduate. There's three more of you still here. Oh, my goodness. I got to keep, you know. By the time that last one's out, you're going to have grandkids coming into the house.

I know.

That's what I'm saying.

Well, one of the, you've put out some great resources for the kingdom. You know, you've written a lot, you speak a lot. You're obviously raising up a generation in the school that you're pouring into. one of the new things you've got coming out that's specifically for families, you've got this God's colorful kingdom book for children. I would love for you to maybe speak to us a little bit. What's your hope for that work? I mean, you've got all these things on your shelf that you could say, this is written by Issa Macaulay. This is what's going out there. But now you've got this thing for kids. It's about God's colorful kingdom.

What's your hope?

Well, one thing is I am a parent who raised kids.

And so I know it is like to look for good resources.
