this morning. My goal today is to help you understand a little bit of why suffering happens

in our lives. And that's a heavy topic, it's a big issue, because

often suffering and the things we experience as suffering in our lives, cause us to sometimes turn our hearts and our minds away from God.

And why is that?

Well, it's because in the back of our minds we know God being God could prevent the

suffering from happening to us. He could stop it. He could cause it not to happen in the very first place. So when we do suffer in our

souls and our minds we naturally start asking questions.

And we don't always verbalize them, but they're going on deep in our souls.

Questions of, why is this happening to me?

Statements to ourselves like, I thought God loved me and this suffering that we're going through

is trying to convince us as a tool of the enemy that we are not loved by God that

he is not doing good in our lives and who the enemy of

our souls would point to the suffering as evidence of that. But Paul

understands there's a bigger thing going on and it's a bigger thing that's firmly in the

hand of God because God is sovereign over suffering he's sovereign over the devil and

he's also entirely good.
