Ephemoral Environments for Developers with Benji. Take it away, Patrick.

Hey, everyone. We're here with Benji, the co-founder and CEO of Shipyard. His expertise,

let's say, is something a little bit further away from mine than normal. So I'm kind of excited

about this. Always a great opportunity to learn something new in the field of software and engineering. It's a big field. And I think the

stuff we're going to talk about today is something that, you know, for me at least, I studied,

you know, programming in college. You had a CS degree. And when I was there, you get in a very

skewed view of how software development works.

You're like one person or two people team.

You think you got it figured out.

And then you show up in your first job and there's, you know, dozens of people on the team

and everything you thought you knew about how the world worked is just wrong.

And so I think a little bit today, we're going to understand how in the real world, some of the complexities of building software happen and as well as even past that.

Hey, thanks for having me.

So let's start up.

At least I traditionally like to start off by saying what was your sort of first experience with

getting into development or programming or tech in general do you have like a formative moment if not

i mean that's okay too yeah i think my formative moment was when my dad did something i can't remember what it was to my Commodore 64,

so that I couldn't play the archery game.

And I somehow figured, I can't remember what it was, but I just remember I figured out how to get around something by typing a bunch of stuff. And there was definitely no Google in the day.

So I was very proud of that accomplishment.
