Live from the United States where the law is far too often the crime.

This is hell if you're white you've likely visited white

relatives in an all-l lily white suburb it's possible that like me a white

person you didn't think twice about the verb being so mooey blanco.

If you thought about it, maybe you considered the idea that people who are alike often flock together seeking people who are similar to them either when it comes to race, class, or political beliefs.

But I hate to break it to you and I want to thank our guests for breaking this to me.

Those suburbs are not so white because of some sort of desire

to join in with other white people

as if they're white because the institutions in society are actively working to keep African Americans out.

That's what's really happening. It's all part of the legacy of slavery that has tainted any and all founding documents promising democracy from day one of the United States of America.

It's easy to blame the state, but historically the state seems to have been less racist than the citizens they represent.

Sure, we can blame the racialized violence of police,

but it's not only the tolerance of that racialized violence.

It's also, even more so, the active participation in hunting down lynching and killing non-whites for sport and profit historically.

The lynchings were applauded by large crowds of white people who would make a day of watching executions and vile mobs who hurled racialized insults, mocking non-white culture

and proudly taking photos of their community killing people, then putting them on postcards

so potential tourists everywhere

will know that your community throws the best
