I'm You're hearing Kulan by Vision into Art, featuring my guest, Pablo Rieppe, the composer of the piece, on drones. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Rieppe, the composer of the piece, on drums.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Rieppe spent much of his 1980s adolescence in the Washington, D.C. area.

He studied at George Mason University in Virginia and later earned a master's degree from Juilliard, where he is now a faculty member.

Pablo is a member of the New York City Ballet Orchestra and has performed with everyone from the New York Philharmonic and the New York New York New

New Music Ensemble to Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.

He also has extensive Broadway experience, playing in such shows as West Side Story and The King and I.

I spoke to Pablo in Los Angeles last year after he gave a guest lecture at Cal Arts.

And now my conversation with Pablo Uiope. My dad loved to try to sing opera. My dad loved to try to sing opera from my grandparents.

My grandparents were from Italy on his side, so they were really into the famous tenors.

My dad was a huge Luciano Pavarotti fan.

And I remember one time I took us to the Kennedy Center as little kids to see him sing.

And afterwards, he took us backstage.

And we were the only two kids, you know, I think probably in the entire audience.

And as soon as Pavarotti saw us, he basically moved everybody to his side because we were

the only kids there and he signed this beautiful poster for us.
