What up ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another edition of tangentially

speaking. It's Independence Day, YIPIO, America, as the Irish player, I George

Bernard Shaw put it patriotism is your conviction that your country is

superior to all others because you were born in it. Give that some thought. Everybody

fucking patriotic. Everybody thinks their country's the best. Native people who I

often lionize on this podcast and elsewhere are just susceptible to that as

everyone else. If you look at terms like Navajo Apache, Lakota, whatever, most

of those terms that people use for their own community translate as the people.

Right? Everyone thinks they're the chosen one. Everyone thinks they're God's

children. Even people who have this Old Testament God that apparently hates

everybody and fucks everybody up. They think also that they're chosen by an

abusive, horrible daddy God, but you know, he still loves us the most even

though he treats us like shit. I don't know. Have you ever read the book of

Job? If you haven't read the book of Job in your a little torn about the Bible

and the Old Testament God that's a good place to start. It's pretty amazing. This

guy Job believes he's a true believer and God and the devil are sitting up

there wherever God in the devil were hanging out and the devil sort of

given God some shit. Like oh yeah you think you're so great and God's like hey

look you know people believe in me right? People are really convinced that I am

amazing and like look at this guy Job you know he's he really believes in me

he's so so into me and the devil says yeah but if you know if you fucked him up
