This is hell.

It's not like every country in the world has incredibly weak online

privacy protections for each person's individual information. No, we're just

lucky to live in the United States of America. The home of the free, the

land of the brave, and the home where our data can be freely taken from us,

while others profit from the information without our knowledge or consent and

then that information can be used against us in some

manipulative fashion. I mean privacy is a guaranteed right in the US Constitution even if

the word privacy is actually never mentioned in the document, but as the Fifth Amendment protects against self-incrimination, that protection in turn protects the privacy of personal information.

If one cannot incriminate themselves then their

privacy must be recognized and the US Supreme Court has confirmed that ruling in

several decisions but unlike the US of A in places like the European Union, they actually make it so nobody can take

your personal data and do whatever they want with it.

They actually protect citizen privacy.

I know, go figure. But that EU Citizen Privacy is about to be changed

altered by a world increasingly driven by personal data. The EU is considering a number of

plans to make certain the collection and storage and management of personal information is not in any way abused

while also getting value out of the data and that data can be very valuable to researchers whose work could benefit society.

Or it can be commodified bought sold, traded, and out of any citizen control,

which is what many have feared in the past
