| 0:30.1 | The reasons are so similar and then the arguments that follow are nearly identical. |
| 0:36.2 | So you've got corporate power, right? |
| 0:37.9 | You've got entrenched corporate power invested in the status quo. |
| 0:41.7 | They don't want anything to change if we were to either solve climate change or implement |
| 0:47.8 | universal healthcare. |
| 0:49.0 | It would very much disrupt the entrenched corporate power. |
| 0:53.0 | And then secondly, there's the boogie man of socialism which makes a great cudgel to argue |
| 0:58.4 | against this kind of necessary change no matter how beneficial it would be for everyone |
| 1:03.6 | because we can scare you by saying socialism. |
| 1:06.9 | And this really crystallized for me recently, I was listening to an interview with a libertarian |
| 1:12.7 | which is sort of great to use a libertarian as a foil for argumentation because they take |
| 1:20.0 | everything to such extremes. |
| 1:21.8 | It's like looking at an argument in a fun house mirror that makes all the absurdities look |
| 1:29.0 | bigger and more boldest so you can really see them clearly. |
| 1:34.0 | And so the way this discussion went, this libertarian being interviewed by a guy who's |
| 1:38.7 | pushing back a fair amount and they were debating healthcare. |
