I'm your host Heather Ashley and today's case is out of New York, Connecticut, and Virginia.

And one that rocked my local news to its core.

All the way back in 1995 when texting wasn't a thing and screen names and chat rooms were all the rage.

A 20-year-old man from New York named Stephen Pladal set his sites on a 15-year-old girl named Alyssa in Texas.

Alyssa told the Daily Mail that he groomed her and before long she was running away from home to move across the country to be with him and start a new life.

By 16, she was pregnant and in January of 1998, she gave birth to her and Stephen's first child, a daughter they named Denise.

Alyssa was instantly in love. Her bond with her daughter had started the second she found out she was pregnant.

But Stephen's bond never seemed to click.
