The United States just suffered.

It's 130th mass shooting since the beginning of this year,

and it's 19th school shooting.

On Monday, a Nashville shooter walked into the Covenant School

and took the lives of six, three adults and three children,

Katherine Coons, Mike Hill, Cynthia Peake,

Halley Scroogs, Evelyn DeKaus, and William Kinney.

Since the deadly shooting at Columbine in 1999,

there have been 376 school shootings.

Americans are 25 times more likely to be killed

in a gun homicide than people in other high-income countries.

Black Americans are 10 times more likely

than white Americans to die by gun homicide.

In 2022 and 2023, gun violence has surpassed car accidents

as the number one cause of death among American youth.

Folks are rightfully asking what can be done

and what must our elected officials do at every level?

Whatever action taken, it certainly has not been enough

to prevent gun violence at schools or in general.

After the tragic shooting in Yvaldi,

Congress worked in a bipartisan manner in June of 2022

to pass HR 1808.
