Welcome to Grumpy Old Geeks for October 2nd 2015. I am Jason DeFilippo. And I'm

Brian Schultmeister, how you doing Jason? Oh, you know I'm doing okay. I'm doing

okay. All right. Except for that. Yes. So we usually have a Patreon read at the

beginning of this show, but I think we need to talk about the elephant in the room.

Well, yeah, they there are a hack of the week. They're there are a hack of the week. And

it is at the beginning, I thought, oh, this is great. Patreon is done, you know, a responsible

release is like, oh, we got hacked. Everything's fine.

Nope. Not so much. I have actually not followed up on this. Oh, dear.

To tip of the hat to two friends at the show, Dr. David Teeter and Fergel, who both sent us

notifications as soon as they received them that there was a Patreon hack.

Yeah, I already had the point. I have not gotten an email from Patreon saying that I've been

hacked. Oh, that's odd. I know. I think I seem to be the only one, which is at first, I was like,

do they know specifically the people that were hacked and they're only emailing them? I think

they just screwed up. Well, yeah, here's the problem. Everybody was hacked. Yeah. On ours,

Technica, it's already come out. Gigabytes of user data from hack of Patreon donation site dumped

online. Everything's out there. They've got the whole database. Yeah, they did say that the

credit cards were stored separately. So they don't have credit cards. They don't have credit cards.

They don't have passwords. They did use B-crypt on the password. So that's fine. The only data that's

really going to get out there from this is if you've donated to somebody, they know who you donated
