Unbeknownst to most Americans, the eastern part of Oregon is in the process of attempting to break away from the state.
After many years of being fed up with the policies coming out of Portland, over a third of the counties in Oregon have voted to secede. Specifically, they voted to leave Oregon and join the state of Idaho. This is part of a growing regional shift known as the "Greater Idaho" movement.
What’s truly interesting about this particular movement is that it might actually succeed.

| 0:00.0 | unbeknownst to most people. The eastern part of Oregon is in the process of slowly breaking away from the rest of the state. |
| 0:07.7 | Now, we first cover this movement about a year ago in our program, but since then, there's actually been a lot of development, and so let's go through it together. |
| 0:15.6 | To start with, let me set up the background for you. You see, after many years of being essentially fed up of the |
| 0:21.6 | policies that are coming out of Portland, over a third of the counties of Oregon have just voted to |
| 0:26.4 | secede. Specifically, they voted to leave Oregon and instead to join the growing state of Idaho. This is |
| 0:32.4 | called the Greater Idaho Movement. Out of the 36 total counties in Oregon, 13 of them have already voted in favor of |
| 0:40.4 | secession because by and large, the people living in those counties believe that their own values |
| 0:45.0 | are no longer being represented by their state legislature, which, as you would imagine, |
| 0:48.9 | is dominated by the extremely liberal politicians coming out of Portland. And what's truly |
| 0:53.5 | interesting about this |
| 0:54.6 | particular movement is that it might actually succeed. Just like you will succeed in life, if you smash |
| 0:59.6 | that subscribe button right below this video. And that way, you'll get notified of any new videos |
| 1:04.2 | as soon as we publish them. And that way, you'll stay informed of what's truly happening in this |
| 1:08.7 | country. Also, please smash that like button as well. Thank you. Now, getting back to it, just like most liberal blue states, |
| 1:15.9 | the majority of the counties in Oregon are actually conservative leaning, similar to states like |
| 1:20.0 | New York, California, and Illinois. And so, for instance, if we look at a county-by-county |
| 1:24.4 | result map of the 2024 election, we'll see that the majority of the |
| 1:27.9 | counties in the state of Oregon voted for Trump, whereas a minority of heavily populated counties |
| 1:33.2 | voted for Harris. This same disparity also translates to the state legislature, because again, |
| 1:39.5 | despite the vast geographic swath of the country voting red, you have both the state senate as well as |
| 1:45.6 | the state assembly being heavily controlled by Democrats. And so in order to understand the desire |
| 1:51.7 | to secede, just put yourself in the shoes of a farmer or a rancher living somewhere over in |
