Count 4. Violation of the Amaluments Clause.

Donald Trump said he may be the only presidential candidate who makes money running for

president he was smacking his lips the new Trump hotel was opening on

Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House all all kinds of government around the world wanted to

cater to his favor, would reserve rooms and have dinners there, as well as his

other hotels in the U hotels and US and other foreign countries.

Why did the founding fathers put something called the Emoluments Clause,

Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8 in the Constitution? a they could easily be corrupted in their defense of national interest by foreigners giving them money,

giving them special privileges or otherwise fighting certain wars for them that they didn't want to undertake directly.

And so they said, well, we don't want that to be a risk of our executive officials.

So unless Congress consents, you know, you can't accept anything of value, simply because the temptation,

even the subconscious one, to become more loyal to the giver of the emolument rather than to your obligation to protect and defend the Constitution

and the nation.

And they wanted even just the appearance they thought was disturbing because it would shake a confidence and other countries might think,

oh, well, if we have the appearance of President accepting, say, a gift from Saudi Arabia,

he's probably going to favor Saudi Arabia

in the international relations sphere.

The Amaimus clause specifically says
