The last time I spoke with Richard Rosario, the chances of him getting out seemed slim.

But somehow, through it all, he had never given up.

And then, early in 2016,

everything changed, almost overnight.

I'm Dan Slepian, and this is 13 alibis. In January of 2016, Robert Johnson, the longtime Bronx District Attorney, stepped down after nearly 30 years in office.

The new DA, Darcel Clark. She was an appellate judge for years, and as it

turns out, she comes from the same neighborhood where the murder happened. Rosario's attorneys

saw an opening and immediately asked for a meeting. Just two weeks before she took office, the incoming

DA agreed to hear what they had to say.

Today is a potentially important day.

And the fact that we have an audience with the district turning to be is huge because we're hopeful that she's going to be receptive and that justice can be served quickly.

It had been 20 years, 20 years, since Rosario had first given authorities the names of his alibi

witnesses.

And now, the Bronx DA decides to send investigators to Florida to speak with them.

Remember Fernando Torres, the pastor?

He was one of the first alibi witnesses they interviewed.
