The New England Patriots have been for the better part of two decades what the

San Francisco 49ers were in the 1980s and 90s. On Sunday one of the best teams

in the NFL comes to Levi Stadium to face one of the worst teams in the league.

Today on the 49ers Insider Podcast, we'll talk to my colleague Tom Curran of CSN New England.

We'll talk to him a little bit later about how the Patriots

modeled their franchise after the Eddie de Barlow and Carmen Policy 49ers of the

80s and 90s. But we're going to start off with a question from one of our Facebook followers.

Diego Corona asks, assuming Capernic keeps growing the rest of the season, does the team try to retain him

or is his mind made up? Now that's an interesting question because

obviously when the 49ers in Capernic decided on that contract restructure the

idea was that Capernik would be free to go someplace else at the

end of the season and the 49ers would have no financial ties to him after this current

season. I still think that that's the case that the

49ers are ready to move on and Capernic is ready to move on but you just never

know. I mean I remember a couple of times when Alex Smith was with the 49ers it was
