Bristol, second place finish.

That was a long day. That was probably the hardest I've worked at Bristol, regardless of the finish.

We started out the weekend. We put up a good laugh and practice for qualifying, so we thought we had a pretty good car for qualifying.

The car was real fast when we went out and made our mock run.

We went to go qualifying, just didn't...

They've tracked and tightened up quite a bit from the Xfinity practice, so we didn't run well and our qualifying attempt.

We started 20th in the race and under the pace laps, I'm out there warming up the tires and getting the car ready to go.

I'm warming up the brakes. You gas the throttle and you scrub the tires and you break a little bit and heat the brakes up.

Nothing crazy. Well, we have a system on our car that is there for a driver who has a stuck throttle.

When your throttle sticks, the first reaction you have is to slam on the brake pedal.

You're going to apply an extreme amount of pressure to the brakes in that situation.

It will read this brake pressure through sensors and shut the engine off.

The engine will still fire, but it will be just a misfire. It won't really create any power.

It should take a very large force of brake pressure to make this happen.

I'm out there scrubbing the tires and breaking a little bit and heating up the brakes.

Nothing I haven't done in the past. Apparently, it set this system off.

There's two types of systems. There's this system where you use the brake pedal to shut the engine off, the brake pressure.

Or you have a button on your steering wheel. I don't like the button because anybody that has a stuck throttle,

you're going to hit the wall or whatever you're going to hit in a matter of a second.

Nobody's got time to be mashing a button. I ain't even thinking about a button. I'm thinking about freaking out.
