about how many lenses or glass components total are within that system.

It's really a mistake to think that more lenses is necessarily better.

You do lose a little light transmission with each lens. You can't perfectly

anti-reflection coat them, so there's a little bit of light transmission loss.

But added lenses does improve image quality, gives the people of

engineer an opportunity to put more correction as they call it an entitlement. So it's a

careful trade-off and balance that they have to pay attention to.
