I'm your host, David Scales, excited for today's show.

We've got special guest, Dave Proden, the vice president of communications for the WSL.

Cool dude.

Turns out he's a listener of the show.

You know, we talk a lot about WSL, the World Surf League, the professional contest circuit for surfing.

We talk a lot about it on this show and speculate, make suggestions, criticisms, things like that.

And occasionally we do get emails from various people at the WSL.

And so Dave is one of those people.

And then other people around Dave have said, like, hey, we'd love to send Dave over and answer some of the questions that you guys have.

So this has kind of been in the works for probably a year or so.

And we could have made it happen earlier, but we just kind of haven't gotten around to it.

But finally came together.

Dave's a cool dude.

We're really grateful, actually, to get his insight.

So thanks, Dave.

He drove down, I mean, literally two hours at before light, like drove down to San

Clemente and surfed, had breakfast, and then met us to record this at 9 a.m. So we got all that done

before 9 a.m. So big effort on Dave's part. So we appreciate that.

There's a lot going on in surfing, though, that we don't get to.

That's relevant to news.

But I was hoping Scott and I would get a chance to kind of discuss, but we got 90 minutes with Dave, and we wanted to use that time efficiently.
