O, O, Vasudeva, Vandam, Daim, Kamsachanuram Ardanam, Deva Ki Paramanandam, Krishna,

Vande Jagad Guru.

So we are studying the 11th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, which is a unique chapter, very

poetic, very awesome, where Sri Krishna shows the cosmic form of God to Arjuna.

Now it's mostly poetry.

There isn't much instruction there.

It's a very vivid description of what Arjuna saw and what he felt like.

So what is it that he saw?

First of all, this experience itself, a question may be asked that was it knowledge, understanding,

or was it a different kind of experience?

It was clearly a different kind of experience because if you see the descriptions of it,

which is so vivid, which is quite different from the way we experience the world.

So he, Arjuna, is seeing something amazing there.

And then he is overcome. First he is overcome by awe, then comes fear, and then finally a feeling of great devotion and surrender.

Now, why does this question come whether it's a new kind of knowledge or is a new kind of

experience?

It's because when Arjuna asked for this God, this God experience, cosmic form of God,

Krishna said, Divyam dadaamete, Jakshu,

I will give you a divine eyes.

Now, eyes are meant for seeing.

But in Vedantah, in Indian philosophy,

seeing, darshan also means philosophy, understanding.
