All right, welcome back. This is the Daily Drive. And for those of you who don't know, I will be going over the first episode of the Rings of Power season two. And this is not how the normal podcast sounds. This is extra episodes that I do that get dropped into the feed

when I've got some time riding in the car. So that's what I'm doing right now. And you'll notice

that the audio isn't the same quality as the ones I do in my home office studio area. But I

hopefully clean it up well enough that you can enjoy it. But I wanted to take the

opportunity today since I am riding in the car and I just had the opportunity to watch

season two's first episode to give you my reactions. So please be aware that I only watched it

one time. I have not watched it a second time.

I am not sitting in front of a TV or computer screen

where I can go through each of the scenes individually.

So this will not be like a detailed recap.

Although I'll probably get more into that

in the patron bonus episode coming up, not this week,

but next week. I'll probably cover the first three episodes or so on there and kind of go into some of

the details and some of the, I guess, the more specific things that go on in the Rings

of Power series and how they are consolidating the time frame a little bit in order to make the show more character

focus. They clearly did that in the first season. They're doing that again in the second season.

And so if you're looking for that kind of stuff, that'll be in bonus episodes coming up,

only for our patrons, because that's not the main focus of the show. The main focus of the show,

if you're new, is I go through, I've gone through the Silmarillion,

I've gone through some of the stories in the unfinished tales, and I'm now going through a very close read of The Hobbit,

and revealing all of those little details from like a literary, historical kind of perspective

about the nature of Tolkien's works and what he was actually getting at.
