out more. While the situation around Poland was deteriorating rapidly, in Warsaw, the defense of the

city continued. If anything, the defenders of the city grew stronger in the days after the

Buzura attack was over, with thousands of troops from a variety

of units making their way into the city through the German defensive lines. But even with this

increase in soldiers available for the defense, by September 17th, the siege of the capital was

becoming something that was going to enter its endgame. The capital was surrounded.

There would be no relief,

and there was no escape for a large number of the soldiers and civilians

that were now trapped in Warsaw.
