The zoo has always bothered me.

For the few times I recall having gone to the zoo, as I avoid it whenever possible.

I do recall a feeling disgust by the experience each and every time.

It's not so much the animals being locked up.

I understand that for the most part it's a necessity for their own good, or so I'm told.

But besides that obvious concern that it's a glorified

prison for underprivileged wildlife, I hate the way people behave at the zoo. I hate how they clamber

over one another to get a look at the orangutan eating some compost concoction recently shoveled out

to it, or to see a lion get fed a pack of ground beef,

who gives a shit? Doesn't anyone else find this tremendously sad? Or are we all just so

blown away to see our stuffed animals eat stuff? Maybe yawn or take a shit? It's pathetic.

There's nothing worse to me other than maybe Disney World, and I often find myself daydreaming
